EGA - Embroiderers’ Guild of America - National Headquarters - EGAUSA.org
PSR - Pacific Southwestern Region - EGA divided USA into 12 regions and each region has
individual chapters - each chapter has a Region Representative - all members can attend
meetings (many on Zoom these days) but only the Region Rep and President can vote - our
Region Rep is Pat Correz - psrega.org
PSR website has info from region and chapters...many events offered to all in region
PSR annual free design...sent every fall to each region member. Design by national teacher
funded by PSR as gift to all members. Previous designs available for sale.
IEC - Inland Empire Chapter - our chapter - each chapter has officers, dues, programs and
special events for members of each chapter - dues vary from chapter to chapter
NEEDLE ARTS magazine....sent by national organization quarterly to all members.
GCC - Group Correspondence Course - offered by EGA national to chapters/regions/
individuals - group of members agree to one program, share cost of program or sponsored by
chapter or region. Each individual purchases text and supplies - work on project together and,
if desired, sends project to teacher/designer for critique. Can be taken as an individual but pay
full registration fee. Pictures/info on EGA national website.
Lightening Round GCC’s - 3 or 4 courses offered by EGA each quarter or so for individual
learning - do not have to have a group to participate - member responsible for text and
supplies - some GCC and lightening Round GCC’s offer a kit from designer. Advertised in
Needle Arts and on EGA website.
Petite Projects - free programs for chapters or individual users - on EGA website in members
area - rules for using as a program but are changed occasionally and free to download and
stitch
ICC - Individual Correspondence Courses - member pays all fees and supplies - a bit more
expensive than GCC but is another option especially for MALs. Individual works directly with
teacher
MAL - Member at large - has no primary chapter but belongs to EGA and participates without
attending meetings
SEMINARS VS WORKSHOPS:
Seminars - held by the national organization or the region. National seminars are held
annually in various locations in US. Requires attendance in person....advertised on EGA
website. Region seminars are held annually or semi-annually within region, often open to out-
of-region students....advertised on each region website. Multi-day classes, hotel location, etc.
Workshops – held by a chapter or group of chapters with one teacher teaching one or
more projects. Financially handled by sponsoring group. Costs kept at “break-even” level so
cost depends on number of students/teachers expenses. May allow “ghosts” if permitted by
teacher.
GHOSTS OR GHOSTING – taking a class without physical attendance. Student pays kit fee
and same teaching fee (expenses) as those physically attending, plus postage. Kit and
instructions mailed after class.
GROUPS IO CLASS – No in-person class. Teacher provides kit/instructions. Internet group
set up with all students invited to attend via email connection. NO ZOOM. Teacher schedules
several “lessons” to supplement written instructions. Allows email interchange of questions/
answers/suggestions.
PILOT CLASS – Teacher sets up “in-person” class to test instructions/timing for a future
seminar class or workshop. Student pays kit fee, share of teaching expenses. Required to
attend to provide feedback to teacher. Limited enrollment.
