These homes accept and appreciate bookmarks for Veterans residing there, both male and female. The bookmarks can be stitched on any background, in any color fabric or thread, with any theme. They can be very simple or complicated - it is all up to you. The bookmarks can also be stitched on banding, so sides are finished. Make them reasonable bookmark size.

Coachella Valley Rescue Mission (cvrm.org) (aka: the Mission or CVRM) is a shelter for homeless people in the Coachella Valley, which stretches from Palm Springs to Thermal and Coachella. It provides shelter for families residing there, three meals a day for anyone needing food, hot showers, a warming shelter in winter and a cooling shelter in summer, and a program with training to help participants get a job and eventually move from the Mission to an apartment or home. It provides transport to job interviews, medical visits, and school for children and teens. It is a shelter for people struggling to survive who have lost jobs and homes. As such, there is always a need for supplies for the residents and the “drop ins”.
We propose two opportunities for donations:
The first in March/April as a monetary donation with a personal check for amount of your choice or gift cards for Target or Wal-Mart (only two listed on website) in suggested increments of $10-20. No limits on either gift.
For the March/April dates, monetary donations are tax deductible and will be collected and delivered to the Mission by C. J. Frye at one time, not later than April 12. Make check payable to Coachella Valley Rescue Mission OR CVRM and write on the memo line, “Inland Empire Chapter EGA”. Mail to the address listed below or bring to the March or April IEC chapter meeting. Mark your envelope, “CVRM”. Your envelope will not be opened. Your check will serve as your receipt. The gifts cards can be mailed to
C. J. Frye, 80610 Prestwick Pl, Indio, CA 92201, for delivery by April 12th.
IEC will continue to collect: personal care items in regular to large sizes - shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, moisturizer, razors (men and ladies), body wash, bar soap, etc.,etc.
This March/April initiative has completed and the donations have been sent to the organization.
The second in August/September, when we donate socks for SOCKTEMBER.
We chose socks as they are easy to find and mail, as white athletic socks or dress socks come in packages at the big box stores, many smaller stores, and even some grocery stores. Socks can be for infants, toddlers, children, teens, women, or men - athletic socks or dress socks. We will collect socks at the August and September chapter meetings and at any workshops that you attend any time during the year. They can also be mailed to me at the address above.
